i wish i knew these before becoming a va
here are the 3 things that you should know before becoming a va
After watching videos after videos about being a Virtual Assistant (VA), wala pa ring nagsabi na itong mga bagay na ‘to ‘yong dapat ginagawa to maximize my potential. LOL. I blame it to myself din kasi I was sooooo tamad gawin sila. Feeling ko kasi it will prolong me from becoming a VA. Guess what? I was wrong. 🙄
So, don’t make the same mistake and do these:
1. Focus More on Building Your Portfolio > Resume
We were taught a lot about what resume format is the best, how to build your resume, et cetera. Pero kapag VA ka pala, kaunti lang sa clients and nagre-require ng CV/Resume, because even though they want to know you on a professional level, they care more about what you can do for THEM. So, what you have to show they is your PORTFOLIO.
Definition time, baby.
Portfolio: a systematic collection of your work that represents activities, accomplishments, and achievements over a specific period of time in one or more areas of your work.
For example: A client is hiring a social media manager, and you, as a candidate, should have a portfolio about it. A collection of metrics, graphic designs, reel edits, analytics, KPIs, etc.
Reason? To make yourself look MORE CREDIBLE.
No one wants to hire someone who doesn’t have anything to prove.
You’re good at social media marketing? Okay, love, prove it. 😉
2. Study Copywriting
Oh, I hope someone, like ANYONE, told me about this when I was starting. Babe, Copywriting is really THE BEST marketing skills you could ever learn. Maybe you have a good CV and fantastic portfolio. The question is:
Do you know how to sell yourself?
Like, babe, how would you write your elevator pitch para makuha mo ‘yung attention ng clients mo? You can’t start with “Hello, I am…” because that’s boring.
How would you sell your services? Obviously not with “I know how to…” because that’s NOT selling.
Copywriting will help you sell yourself more effectively kasi when you know how to copywrite, you’d know how to write your own sales page, descriptions, About Me page, and even your, again, elevator pitch.
Here’s my introduction video script when I was starting and doesn’t know how to use copywriting:
I know how to create graphic designs for your social media accounts, and I am proficient with using Google Suit, Canva, Capcut, and Wix.
After learning about Copywriting:
With more than 3 years of experience and after working with 5 brands and 3 clients, I now help clients establish their online presence and grow their engagements by creating content calendar, build websites, write newsletters and blogs.
See the difference? After learning Copywriting, I learned how to SHOW what I can do through words.
3. Start Now
Lastly, I hope I started as early as I could. I have been studying everything about VA since 2020, and I started applying A YEAR after. Like, girl, what??? Although it wasn’t a wasted time kasi I was learning sa buong taon na ‘yon, I just wished I started applying WHILE learning, kasi it took me A YEAR bago matanggap (2022). What if I started applying with the knowledge I have nung 2020?
Anyway, I would advise you guys to start NOW. Like, maybe after you read this article. Why? Because sa bawat araw na you’re putting it off, mas nadaragdagan ka ng competition sa pagiging VA. Not to mention na pati AI ay nakakagawa na ng VA works.
So, babe, start now. Ulit-ulit?
Anyway, that’s all.
Kisses.
